Crayon Melting

We inquired about all the different types of forces over the last few weeks. Before we started our summatives we decided to explore heat as a force.  We discussed how heat is a force- how does it make things move? What types of heat can move materials? What materials melt?
We found that crayons melt when heat is applied after we left some outside one day. We decided to use a hair dryer to see if it would melt the crayons.  First, we put our first initial on a piece of cardboard.  Then we glued crayons in a line at the top.  We applied heat with the blow dryer and watched the crayons melt.

Sean and Hamudi enjoyed watching the different colors melt and were guessing which one was going to "win the race" to the bottom of the page!
