Most of our days start with the first 45 minutes being self-directed play. This means the children are allowed to choose what they find interesting and inquire with less teacher direction. Provocations are set out for the children to explore if they choose, or they can find something else. It doesn't take long for our classroom to be buzzing with excitement and learning.
The provocation that was set out here was 6 pieces of black felt and pattern blocks. Quickly the children started creating.
One of the computer sites we visit is ABCYA.com, which has a lot of numeracy and literacy games targeted for different age group. Ahmad, Hashim and Hamudi really enjoy creating cars and seeing if they can race them.
Ahmad, Hamudi and Hashim created their own train track- video to come later.
Amaya told a story as she created this picture.
Saleh examined all of the pieces with a magnifying glass before creating.
Iman, Hajar and Retal got really excited today when there was fresh play dough out. They were busy cutting different shapes out.
Juwana and Malath were creating with the play dough too!
Azka was creating a symmetrical shape!
Sean enjoyed exploring all the different shapes and seeing their reflections in the mirror.
Sean and Amaya decided to hide their creation for a big unveiling!
Once Saleh had finished checking out the pieces, he decided to create his own picture.
