An AWESOME trip to Mr. McEwen's class!

As part of our How The World Works unit of inquiry in K2 we have been exploring forces.  We have inquired into what is a push and what is a pull.  This has been a very engaging and hands on unit that the children are really excited about.
Today we got to experience a science class in the high school.  Sean's dad, Mr. McEwen welcomed us into his classroom today to "do science".  Since our unit focuses on forces, Mr.McEwen had lots of cool toys for us to play with that use forces.  We were able to explore pushes and pulls and had so much fun doing it.
When we got back to class, we reflected on our experience, and had the following to say:

Amaya "I was playing with the science thing.  It went back and on it and then when I went at it again, two went. It still went on it until it went by itself."

Retal "Jumping".
Malath "I was playing with the balloon. Then I saw Retal and I press the toy with Retal. Then it popped off".

Hasnain "Put the air. It went".

Malath "I'm playing with the ball.  I put it up and it throw it."

Ahmad "I playing with the ball.  The ball fall down then go up."

Retal "I am seeing what jumps".

Hamudi "It fly.  The wind made it fly. The wind came from it."

Azka "The car was going.  The wheels do it.  We just pull back and then it goes."

Hashim "I pull it.  They push then."

Mr. McEwen showed us a type of marble run that used gravity and a machine that brought the marbles back up again.

This piece of equipment pushed a lot of air to move papers when Mr.McEwen pulled it back.

Hajar "He was blowing.  The ball flied."

Juwana "He push it and it get the air and push it outside."

Roaa "We was playing with the orange ball.  They come out from the clicking."

We got to sit in the "big kids" desks!

It was our first trip to the Gardens School.  Lots of us have brothers and sisters who go to school here.
